WEB DESK: Fawad Khan’s much-anticipated film ‘Abir Gulaal’ will not be released in India.
India and Pakistan have experienced a tumultuous relationship since their Partition in 1947. their shared love of Bollywood has somehow survived through Partition and beyond. But this time their companionship become a target of Pahalgam attack an d some of other issues before this incidents.
After the Pahalgam attack that resulted in the death of 26 individuals and injuries to numerous tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), New Delhi has reportedly decided against releasing “Abir Gulaal,” leaving Fawad Khan’s anticipated return to Bollywood in jeopardy. This information was disclosed by The Indian Express, citing sources familiar with the matter.
“Abir Gulaal,” which also features Vaani Kapoor and is set to be released on May 9, was intended to mark Khan’s comeback to Bollywood after a significant hiatus.
His previous works include popular films such as “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” “Khoobsurat,” and “Kapoor & Sons.” However, following the Uri attack, Khan and several other Pakistani artists were subjected to a ban on their involvement in Indian cinema.
Despite the film being ready for release, it has been prohibited in India, casting a pall over Fawad Khan’s return. In light of the Pahalgam attack, Indian film organizations have called for a complete ban on “Abir Gulaal.”
In a message on social media, Fawad Khan expressed his condolences, stating that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the attack.
