ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has voiced optimism that ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran will achieve further breakthroughs in the coming days as diplomatic efforts continue.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council convened by Bahrain, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said Islamabad remains actively engaged with regional and international partners to support the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States.
He said Pakistan and Qatar recently held separate meetings in Doha with American and Iranian negotiating teams, where encouraging progress was made on matters linked to the Islamabad agreement. The discussions, he noted, built on the understandings reached during the Lake Lucerne Summit.
According to the ambassador, both sides agreed to maintain dialogue and hold another round of talks at the earliest opportunity.
Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said Pakistan will continue promoting dialogue and confidence-building measures aimed at preventing further escalation and sustaining diplomatic engagement. He described the continuation of negotiations as a positive sign, noting that open communication channels remain essential for advancing peace, stability, and security across the region.
