ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait have formalized a new strategic agreement aimed at deepening their military cooperation, focusing on areas such as training, capacity development, and border security.
The “Protocol Agreement-2026” was signed in Islamabad by high-ranking officials from both nations, building upon the foundation laid by the earlier “Defense Cooperation Agreement-2023,” according to the Ministry of Defence.
The signing ceremony was attended by a Kuwaiti delegation led by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, who met with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral defense relations, security collaboration, and regional stability.
The Ministry highlighted that the new pact will enable the Pakistani Armed Forces to assist Kuwait in various defense sectors, including training programs, strategic capacity enhancement, border control, and other areas of mutual interest.
“This agreement underscores the strong bond, respect, and shared strategic goals that define the enduring defense partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait,” the statement read.
Both nations expressed their commitment to further strengthening their alliance to promote regional peace and security. Prior to the signing, the Kuwaiti delegation also held consultations with Pakistan’s military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at GHQ Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meetings focused on regional security challenges, bilateral defense initiatives, and ways to expand institutional cooperation.
The Kuwaiti representatives lauded Pakistan’s military professionalism and its role in maintaining regional stability. The engagement reaffirmed Pakistan and Kuwait’s dedication to transforming their historic relationship into a resilient, mutually advantageous defense partnership that contributes to greater regional peace and stability.
