ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have praised security forces for a successful operation in North Waziristan.
In a statement, Zardari said efforts by foreign-backed militants and their local supporters to destabilise the country would be thwarted. He added that operations against Fitna al-Khawarij under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue until terrorism is eliminated.
Shehbaz said the operation demonstrated Pakistan’s determination to eradicate terrorism. He also lauded security personnel for their efforts to restore lasting peace, saying militants would not be allowed to spread instability or achieve their aims.
